My name is Nathan Racey. I was born and raised in Vancouver, BC. I am a settler here. Yet this is my home.

This is where my heart is

In the Pacific Northwest, where we get lots of rain, and where the air after the rain is cool, crisp and fresh. In the summertime, the sea breeze mixed with ripening blackberries and cedar is my favourite. The smells of pine, cedar and moist forest floors are common. Some people complain about the rain, but for me, the rain gives me permission to slow down.

The days are long in the summer and very short in the winter. I have come to love this home so much. The people. The community. The food. The vibrant mix of cultures. The air. The clean water. The fauna. The transportation. The hustle and the stillness.

A sense of arrival

It has taken me a long time to feel this sense of arrival. I have entered a new relationship with God, one built on trust, faith and devotion. I trust the divine timing of all that is unfolding in my life. I used to be so quick to withdraw from my problems. To run away, or to mask, because the present moment wasn't enough. Because I felt that I wasn't enough. But now I know my own divinity. Better yet, I feel it, I experience it, and I am in connection with it: the light of God in me. And I am at peace.

When something happens in my life that stirs the waves of the mind, I ask myself: What am I supposed to learn from this? What is life trying to teach me? What kind of omen is this? And from a place of presence, I choose and create a path forward.

What do I believe?

Not what is expected in my culture. Not taught to me by teachers in school, or by my parents at home. Or beliefs I inherited so I could fit in with friends.

How can I cultivate presence and deepen my relationship with myself and God, so I can answer this question with clarity and an open heart.

Ultimately, I go to people for perspective, but I turn to myself for answers.

A new chapter

I have lived in Vancouver, Canada my whole life. But ever since I was a child, I have been fascinated with the world. With maps, countries, cultures, capital cities, nature.

Starting in mid December of 2026, I will be embarking on a spiritual pilgrimage throughout South East Asia, and India + Nepal, to start. I will create a community on every continent. I have that capacity and that is my dream.

I am extremely aware of my positionality and the privilege it is to embark on such a journey. So, I am meditating deeply on my intentions, actions, and how I choose to be in relationship with the music, food, land, culture, and people I engage with.

I have the capacity to be present, respectful, curious, kind, aware, and passionate. That is how I will continue to show up for myself and for the people around me.

I am not running from this home. I am actively choosing to make new ones.
